Nikka Scotch Whiskey - Yoichi, Hokkaido
There was a love story, almost a legend, behind this factory. It was a quite touching story:
Astonishing life of Scots woman who took whisky to Japan
The Rita Taketsuru Fan Club
They were using coal to heat the fermentation vat. Yes, this location was still being used for high-end Whiskey production even the factory was open to general audience and somewhat arranged for visitors.
Gekkeikan Sake Ōkura Memorial Hall - Fushimi, Kyoto
I also went the following factory tours but no photos were allowed:
(1) Historical Museum of milk and dairy (MEG Milk Sapporo factory)
(2) Iwatsuka-sika (rice cracker factory)
(3) KIRIN Beer Park (Beer Brewery Tour)
At the end of factory tours, I was given product samples and/or I was allowed to try their Beer/Sake/Whiskey.
